Colorado Springs Domestic Violence

As a Colorado Springs defense lawyer, I represent clients in El Paso and the neighboring counties against criminal charges, including domestic violence.

Domestic violence is defined as “an act or threatened act of violence upon a person with whom the actor is or has been involved in an intimate relationship.[1].

Domestic violence is a commonly-charged crime. While undoubtedly domestic violence occurs frequently, often the police arrest people on this charge simply to break up a fight and to prevent the potential of immediate violence. While the intentions of the police may be admirable, an arrest to prevent a potential crime does not make an innocent person guilty of the crime.

Fighting Charges of Domestic Violence

Because of my professional experience, I understand what is at stake. Even unfounded charges of domestic violence can have serious consequences. Just being charged by the prosecution may affect a person’s continued employment and personal reputations may be damaged.

A hallmark of my representation is first seeking dismissal of all charges whenever there is a valid reason for doing so and working tirelessly in opposing the prosecution’s efforts to convict.

My Experience

Prior to forming The Saroyan Law Firm, I was a former federal prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney with the United States Air Force and at large firms, including one of the largest in the world. While in the Air Force, I was ranked as the # 4 Trial Defense Counsel, and the # 1 Appellate Defense Counsel worldwide.  I have represented more than 1,500 clients at every level of the criminal process, including before the United States Supreme Court.
